I have a relatively new install of Windows 10 and it is currently running build 1809 and do you think I can get it to browse to a network share. If I do the standard thing of typing in a host name into file explorer as “\\\\nas2” it should bring me back all the available shares, but not now, now I get:<\/p>\n

It seems there is a bug. Microsoft has described a work around involving putting together a cmd and powershell script:<\/p>\n

Mapped network drives don’t work in Windows 10, version 1809<\/a><\/p>\n

Its actually quite bizarre but for me the fix was to simply add but the “SMB 1.0\/CIFS File Sharing Support”.\u00a0 Simply find the control panel and either go straight to:<\/p>\n

Programs and Features | Turn Windows features on or off<\/p>\n

or<\/p>\n

Programs | Programs and Features | Turn Windows features on or off<\/p>\n

Simply select all the “SMB” boxes highlighted below and click ok. Sorry to say it will require a reboot, but hopefully it will fix your problems.<\/p>\n
